Steel properties
Steel with 12% chromium alloyed with vanadium.
Very good wear resistance and excellent cutting performance.
High toughness.
Can be nitrided (after secondary quenching).
Suitable for vacuum quenching.
 
Applications
Wheels and combs for thread rolling.
Cold extrusion tools.
Blanking and stamping tools for high strength materials, mandrels for stepping cold rolling mills, circular shears.
 
Heat treatment

Hardening from 		1000-1050°C
In Oil at 80°C,air,
vacuum or hot bath at 500-500°C
 
Special heat treatment

Hardening from 		1000-1050°C
In Oil at 80°C,air, vacuum or hot bath
at 500-500°C (or 300-350°C)
